A woman on Reddit is beefing with her roomies after they insisted she chip in to replace a new TV their inebriated friend broke while she was out of town.

She explained she and her roommates "usually get along pretty well," but things turned sour when she returned home after visiting her family and found their "living room TV completely smashed."

"Apparently, one of my roommates’ friends got a little too drunk during a small party they had while I was away, and they somehow knocked it off the stand. Now, both of my roommates are asking me to pitch in to buy a new TV, because we all use it and 'we're a household,'" the woman wrote.

However, she feels it's "unfair" to ask her to pay for a new TV when she wasn't even present during its destruction, especially considering it was her roommates' "friend who broke it."

"I’ve offered to help them talk to their friend about paying for it, but they’re saying it’s easier if we all just split it. I get that it sucks to deal with this, but I really don’t think I should be on the hook for something I had nothing to do with," the frustrated woman continued.

Now, things are "tense" between her and her roommates, and she's wondering if she's just being "stubborn" by not offering to split the cost for a new TV.

Users mostly sided with the woman in the comments, suggesting that the person who broke the TV should replace it.

"The friend who broke the TV should be paying for it," one person wrote.

"Why isn't the person who broke it replacing it? Or at very least contributing to the cost. I don't see why you should be expected to pay," another wrote.

"It's on the roommate who invited [the drunk friend over] to replace it. You break it, you buy it," someone else commented.
