It's been said that one person's trash is another person's treasure. That's very true of a lakeside Chicago, Illinois palace that is elaborate in its design, but it's about to be demolished. Pics and video show what it's like before it meets the wrecking ball.

Great catch by urban explorers Decaying Midwest who were able to peek inside a $5.2 million dollar Chicago, Illinois area mansion that sits next to Lake Michigan. As he tells it in his video walkthrough, the couple that owned it had financial issues and tried to rent it out as an Airbnb, but that wasn't successful. Now, it's been sold to a new owner who reportedly plans to demolish this mansion and build something new.

It's like that old song "What Might Have Been". I'm no real estate genius, but you would think it might be less expensive to renovate the existing building instead of destroying it, but I can also understand how valuable a new design could be sitting next to Lake Michigan. Epic potential remains here.
