If you're going to do something new, January 1 is a great day to do it since everyone's already dealing with a brand new year. It appears there will be something new in Illinois Walmart stores starting on New Year's Day in 2025 and that's new shopping carts.

I saw this report from the website Progressive Grocer. They say that Illinois Walmart stores will receive something that Missouri Walmart stores have already started deploying - a new type of shopping cart.

The report says beginning on January 1, 2025, Walmart will have "Caroline's Carts" at all Illinois stores.

It's important to note that these carts will not replace the traditional shopping carts you've seen in Walmart stores, but will be an addition for families with children that need them. They're designed to safely hold a child anywhere from 30 to 250 pounds.

In total, it appears that Walmart will have 8,000 "Caroline's Carts" for use in stores around the country. Around a dozen states were given the new carts first and Illinois is next in line.

For many families, these new carts in Illinois Walmart stores will be a godsend. It's a good thing that stores are beginning to go the extra mile to make sure no one is excluded from taking care of daily needs.
