3 Wisconsin Places Named Top 10 Most Livable Small Cities in US
If you had to list the best things about the state of Wisconsin, I would argue that one characteristic should be among the first things mentioned and that's the fact that the there are a great variety of quality small cities. A new national ranking agrees as 3 have made the top 10 most livable small cities in America.
This new ranking from Smart Asset is an interesting assessment of American cities that have a population between 65,000 and 100,000 residents. Their methodology to decide which cities of that size are most livable include (in their exact words) "housing affordability, the spread of business offerings, financial standing and unemployment levels, average commute times and healthcare coverage".
With those numbers crunched, Wisconsin fared very well.
#3 - Eau Claire, Wisconsin
#6 - Appleton, Wisconsin
#10 -Oshkosh, Wisconsin
These three Wisconsin cities benefited from relatively short commute times and a lower percentage of the population that live beneath the poverty level. Having a plethora of family-friendly activities and decent singles options, too, don't hurt their rankings either.
I will admit that I tend to ignore many of these internet "best of" lists, but this one actually measures a decent number of factors that really do impact livability which makes it more valid in my eyes than most.
