For Green Bay Packer fans only.

Hi. My name is Joe Dredge. I am a Chicago Bear fan. I'm assuming that if you're still reading this, then you are in fact a fan of the Green Bay Packer football club.

I've met some of you. A few of you even live in my community, which is fine as long as there's not an "overwhelming" number of you. A little flavor in the community is always a nice thing.

Anyway, I've got some news for you. You're going to want to sit down for this.

The Green Bay Packer team that you root for might not be very good. They might in fact be s#!&&^.

This is probably new for you.

You're used to s#!&&^ playoff teams. I mean you've had 2 of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game under center for 30 years and 2 Super Bowls to show for it.

That's 28 seasons ending in utter disappointment.

Do you see that GIF of Rodgers above? That look of defeat? Maybe hopelessness? That looks familiar right? You usually see it sometime in January with another team's colored confetti falling from the sky.

Now you're seeing it in the regular season. And let me tell you, once you start feeling that during the regular season, while you're on a losing streak, while you fall to under .500, that feeling starts to fester. You start to wonder, "Is this really worth it?"

And let me tell you that as a Bear fan....

...it's not.

Sure we still watch. We still have "hope." We still get mad and want to fire the coach. But in the end we know it won't work out this year, just like it didn't the year before, and the year before.....It's a fun distraction, but it doesn't need to be your identity.

You guys had a hell of a run. It was great watching you suffer miserable playoff loss after miserable playoff loss. You're a Packer fan so you might not know what this means but you're about to get very familiar with the feeling of schadenfreude.

Enjoy the new mental freedom you're about to experience on Sundays. There's a whole world out there when you're not obsessed with this dude 20 weekends a year.
