Do You Prefer Iowa Or Illinois’ Favorite Christmas Cookies For 2025?
'Tis a sugary time of the year.
Christmas is here and besides family arguments, that also means some time in the kitchen. A lot of us make things like cookie trays to give out to our friends and neighbors and we have no short supply of cookies ourselves.
Word Unscrambler looked at the Google search data so far in 2025 to see what Christmas cookies we're looking up to make the most. The Midwest has some solid options (except for Indiana, which has been looking up gluten-free cookies) so here are what you can expect on cookie trays in Iowa and Illinois this year.
Iowa
Iowa's top cookie of the Christmas season so far are M&M cookies. Which really, you can't go wrong with and they're not that difficult to make if you just use the red and green M&M's.
It's a change-up from last year, when Iowa's favorite Christmas cookie (according to Google Trends) were chocolate crinkle cookies.
Illinois
So far this year, Illinoisans have been looking up chocolate cookie recipes. That doesn't specify what kind of chocolate cookie: like double chocolate chip? Crinkle? Either way, there will likely be a lot of chocolate on your cookie tray.
Last year, Illinois' favorite cookie was a Christmas kitchen sink cookie, which is basically a bunch of random ingredients: pretzels, potato chips, M&M's, sprinkles, etc. all in one cookie.
For comparison, America's top Christmas cookie searches so far have been:
- Gingerbread cookies
- Italian Christmas cookies
- Christmas sugar cookies
- Shortbread Christmas cookies
- Christmas butter cookies
Best of luck to you in the kitchen this holiday!
