If you're not familiar with the clear bag rule, if you want to bring a bag into any of those types of events, it must be see-through, so the security can inspect it before you enter. I attend so many that I've purchased a clear backpack to use on a regular basis.

I was surprised to find out that some schools in Illinois force their students to use clear backpacks, with many more looking to jump on the bandwagon. I'm sure it won't be long before it's a statewide regulation. A big district in Peoria is looking to add that rule for next year.

An Illinois school district will hear a proposal Monday requiring all backpacks for grades 5-12 to be transparent in the next school year.

Such a policy would help prevent banned items such as vaping pens – something the district contends with more than weapons, Wilson argued.

“A lot of districts in the nation are trending towards that direction,” he said of implementing clear-bag policies.

As a parent, I feel that it can be a safe solution to the problem. It does take away any privacy for the students. Also, part of the thing I looked forward to as a kid was going supply shopping a picking up a cool backpack for that year. The children will miss out on that fun.
