True Golfers Love The Game

Personally, I'm not a golfer. It never really clicked with me. I do know plenty of people who just love the game. They will play whenever possible. Of course, there's never enough time to hit the course as much as they would like to. Unfortunately in places like Illinois and Wisconsin, you can only play part of the year. Even the most diehard players can only fit so many games.

Wisconsin Golfer Breaks World Record

According to golfdigest.com,

Wisconsin warrior sets world record for most holes played in a calendar year at 17,820.

Each morning, Krentz wakes up, drives to Norsk Country Club, and plays as many holes as possible with his trusty pushcart.

Wisconsin resident, Nolan Krentz, doesn't just love golf, it's an obsession. Since he turned twenty years old, he's been playing at least 15,000 holes a year. Good thing he has a membership to a country club. Just think if he had to pay for every individual round. He's at the course each morning before the sun comes up.

Nolan will play until he has to go to work. He does have a couple of jobs including working in a grocery store and coaching sports at a couple of local schools. Once he's off, it's back to the course for more fun. By the way, his country club is only nine holes. That makes it even more unbelievable.

Slight Problem With The World Record

Though his numbers say he's the world record holder, unfortunately, his accomplishment is still considered unofficial. In order to make it official, there must be witnesses and documentation for Guinness World Records to count it. He doesn't have time for that with his busy schedule. Since Mr. Krentz hasn't been keeping track in the official Guinness World Record way, the current number is 14,625 by a Canadian.

What's Next For This Golf Addict
His next goal is 18,000 holes played in a year. Though that seems like a whole lot of golf, it's not unreachable. He averaged just over forty-eight per day in 2021. Imagine if he didn't have to work. I wonder how much more he could actually play.
