Illinois police arrested a man who had over $400,000 worth of stolen workout equipment in his possession.

I can't wrap my head around the fact that some people in Illinois will try and pull off one of these huge robberies and think they're going to get away with it. There is never a storybook ending like these thieves think will happen.

There's more to a robbery than just stealing stuff. What are you going to do with those hot items once they're in your possession? Of course, the suspects are going to try and sell the merchandise. If they don't get arrested while breaking into a business, the thieves will get busted when trying to flip the stuff.
In this case, the suspect robbed a cargo shipment of fitness equipment in Joliet. What is he going to do with thousands of dollars' worth of exercise equipment? Well, he's not going to use it all for himself. Opening his own gym would be a lot of work.

The guy wants to sell it to make cash. Where does he do that? He could sell it to a fence, but he'll have to give that person a percentage of what he makes. So, this dude decides to sell it on Facebook Marketplace. That's not shady at all and putting a big bullseye on his back. No surprise he was arrested.

A Chicago man has been charged after investigators recovered about $400,000 worth of stolen fitness gear and other items, authorities said.
The investigation began in April when the sheriff’s Organized Retail Crime Unit discovered that fitness equipment stolen in a Joliet cargo theft was being sold on Facebook Marketplace.
