How much will it cost you each year in Illinois To Own A Pet?

Here's How Much Money You'll Need To Own A Pet In Illinois

Owning a pet is great but before you adopt one make sure you understand the financial commitment. Think about the cost if you actually have more than one. The last thing you want to do is bring home a dog for your family but you have to get rid of it because you can't afford it. That would crush them.

Animals, especially dogs and cats become more than just pets. They are part of your family. You want to take care of them almost like your kids. That means getting the right kind of food, vet visits, toys, and so much more. The costs continue to go up.

So the question is, how would it actually cost to own just one pet in the state of Illinois? I think this is great information for people looking to adopt their first animal. I believe it's much better to know in advance as opposed to being surprised.

The average family in Illinois with an animal spends $1,733 on their pets. For dogs, it's $1,248, and for cats, you're looking at $836. Americans will spend a total of $150.6 billion on their pets each year. That's crazy money.

The majority of that cash will be spent on vets, food, and products. Like everything else, those costs have skyrocketed too. By the way, two out of three households own a pet. About half of those families have a dog with a third owning a cat.
