Could ‘Bar Rescue’ Be About To Revitalize Wisconsin’s Infamous Plywood Palace?
Best Wisconsin Dive Bar
For those that don't know, dive bars are my jam, especially when I'm visiting Wisconsin. I just love the "come as you are" and no frills vibe of dive bars, and the cheap drinks I are a major bonus too.
I have been to plenty of dive bars in my days, but I have never gone to the one Wisconsin is most famous for; The Plywood Palace aka Moquah Bar in Moquah, Wisconsin.
Obviously, this bar looks ROUGH from the inside, and I'd be lying if I said it looked any better on the inside, but that's part of its charm!
I follow the Wisconsin Dive Bars group on Facebook, and this morning I saw someone post this;
Rumor at deer camp: Bar Rescue was seen in Moquah.
Any true dive bar appreciator knows that a TV show called 'Bar Rescue' visiting Moquah, Wisconsin can only mean one thing...The Plywood Palace is getting an upgrade, and not everyone is happy about it.
Is 'Bar Rescue' Upgrading Wisconsin's Plywood Palace?
In case you are unfamiliar, 'Bar Rescue' is a TV show that started in 2011 as a Spike TV series, and currently airs on Paramount+. The show stars Jon Taffer and a team of experts who "visit failing drinking establishments to offer one last shot at success".
Now, getting a visit from this TV show like this sounds like a golden opportunity for any bar, but that's not the case for the Plywood Palace, at least not according to its patrons.
After the rumor about 'Bar Rescue' being spotted in Moquah was posted, people immediately started bashing the idea. Here are just a few of the comments I saw;
HELL NO
Help is on the way dear, menards truck dispatched with more plywood.
Does it need to be rescued? Seems there's at least a post every single day. I'm sure they're doing just fine $$$ wise.
That show has a zero percent success rate. Seeing them at your door is a guaranteed failure.
You don't rescue the Plywood Palace, the Plywood Palace rescues you...
The Plywood Palace is definitely nasty, and probably highly unsafe, BUT, I still feel it should just be left alone. Fancying it up will only take its uniquely disturbing charm.
One last thing for the record; I don't think these rumors are true, but I still must say; stay away, 'Bar Rescue'...just in case.
