A fatal two-vehicle crash in Belvidere Township has claimed the life of a 24-year-old Rockford woman.

Investigation Underway After Fatal Crash in Boone County

According to the Winnebago County Coroner's Office, emergency responders were called to the intersection of Spring Creek Road and Shaw Road around 5:53 pm on Tuesday (6/10) after a serious collision was reported.

A passenger in one of the vehicles involved was rushed to a local hospital by ambulance and received emergency medical treatment for traumatic injuries, according to the report.

Victim Pronounced Dead Despite Medical Efforts

Despite life-saving measures, the victim was pronounced dead at 4:17 pm, according to the Winnebago County Coroner's Office.

The victim in the fatal crash was identified as 24-year-old Whitney Camp of Rockford, Illinois. According to the Coroner's press release, an autopsy was conducted the day after the incident, and confirmed that Camp died of injuries sustained in the crash.

Authorities have not released details about the driver of the vehicle Camp was riding in or the occupants of the second vehicle involved in the crash.

Joint Investigation Ongoing

The Winnebago County Coroner's Office and the Boone County Sheriff's Department are continuing their investigation into the crash, and the cause of the accident at the rural intersection remains unclear, according to the press release.

The intersection of Spring Creek Road and Shaw Road in Boone County is known for limited visibility and increased cross-traffic risks.
