Best Things About Fall in Northern Illinois

Summer lovers won't appreciate what I am about to say, but once the 4th of July has come and gone my brain starts yearning for hoodies, bonfires, and cider donuts. I just can't help myself, I LOVE fall!

I love decorating my house in its fall fineries, I love eating fall specialties like chili and cider donuts, and I love when the days are warm and the nights are crisp. To me there's nothing quite like spending a sunny autumn day surrounded by apple trees and enjoying the charming farm atmosphere of a local orchard, so I get super excited when I see my favorite local orchards start to announce opening dates for the fall season!

Here are five of my go-to orchards in the area, along with their opening dates to help you plan your perfect fall outing:

Edwards Apple Orchard in Poplar Grove, IL and Edwards Apple Orchard West in Winnebago, IL - Friday, August 23

Curran's Orchard in Rockford, IL - Saturday, August 17

Valley Orchard in Cherry Valley, IL - Sunday, August 25

Jonamac Orchard in Malta, IL - Wednesday, August 21

Kuipers Family Farm in Maple Park, IL - Saturday, August 24

Kuipers Family Farm is one orchard my family has never gone to before, but I always hear people rave about. I saw on their Facebook that they are offering a season pass this year that is perfect for families with little ones, so now we're definitely going to have to check them out this fall...

Do you have a favorite orchard in the Stateline area that isn't on this list? I'd love it if you sent us an app message to tell us about it!
