Locals Dish On The Best Rockford Area Pizza Place for 2024

Most people think Chicago takes the crown for the best pizza places in Illinois, but they haven't tried all the great options available in Rockford yet!

For me, choosing my favorite pizza is kind of like choosing my favorite child, it's impossible and something I simply won't do!

From deep dish, to thin crust, or something wildly creative, Rockford has a slice to satisfy every craving, and it seems like a new pizza joint we have to try is opening in the Stateline area all the time.

As we roll into 2025, we thought we'd ask one important question and then quickly found out the competition is hotter than a fresh pie straight out of the oven....

It was no surprise that Lino’s was a very popular answer, or that many people are excited that Capri finally reopened after a fire destroyed their Downtown Rockford restaurant in 2022... but what other places to locals love?

Last I checked, the above post had just over 200 comments, and after reading through them I can determine these five pizza joints received the most messages...(so far.)

1. John's Restaurant Pizzeria & Steakhouse at 2914 11th Street in Rockford

2. Nunzio's Restaurant at 5800 N 2nd Street in Loves Park

3. Napoli Pizza at 6560 N Alpine Rd. in Loves Park

4. Salamone's at 103 S Cherry Street in Cherry Valley

5. Giuseppe's Pizza at 950 Halsted Road in Rockford

While browsing through the nominations, I noticed several people mention Gulotta's Pizza at 1002 11th Street in Rockford, which is a favorite in my family too. Sure, we love Gulotta's pizza, but we love the family that owns it as well. When my parents were first married they bought a house near Gulotta's, and when they were gutting the home's kitchen they ate at Gulotta's nearly every night. Over 45 years later, Nick Gulotta still remembers my parents every time they call. You gotta love a local pizza joint like that!
