There are so many critters and creepy crawlies we have to worry about during the Summer months living in the Midwest, from the emergence of the Cicadas to the warning of a rare tick in Illinois, and rabid bats showing up in our state.

Now the Illinois Department of Health is sending out an alert after mosquitoes in the state recently tested positive for West Nile Virus.

What are some ways you can keep mosquitoes away and make yourself less attractive to getting bitten?

The most common repellent for mosquitoes is a spray with DEET, which also keeps ticks away. But according to Everyday Health, more than 3 out of 10 people prefer an all-natural way to keep bugs away.

All-Natural Ways to Keep Mosquitoes Off Your Body

Lemon Eucalyptus is a registered repellent with the EPA after it was discovered that it gave "100 percent protection against mosquitoes for up to 12 hours."

Three oils are also frequently used to keep mosquitos away. Lemongrass, Peppermint, and Catnip Oil have been known to be effective in repelling bugs.
