Full disclosure, I'm not much of a hiker, but since I've lived in Northern Illinois my entire life I know for certain this area has many amazing forests to explore and enjoy.

Even though hiking might not be my favorite way to enjoy a free weekend, I have been on a hike or two and have seen some wacky things abandoned deep in the woods including; many lost articles of clothing, books, one high heel shoe, and even family photos, but the one thing I would never expect to find abandoned deep in the woods is a big pool!

Why Is There an Abandoned Pool in One Illinois Forest?

Decaying Midwest must have went on an exploration of abandoned and creepy places in Rockford, Illinois recently, because they have been sharing so many cool photos of places I didn't even know in this city on Facebook. First and foremost, this abandoned pool found deep in one Rockford forest...

The specific location of this forest was never disclosed, (that's a big no-no in abandoned places groups on Facebook), but I did see one person comment;

I swam in that pool back in the 60s. If it's the one I'm thinking about. There was a family compound with the pool. Way back off of Alpine rd.

AND another person said;

it's near the intersection of Alpine rd and Guilford rd.

Wait, WHAT?!? I'm in this exact area 5 days a week and I have never heard there was a creepy old pool lurking near me!
