If your kid, or let's be totally honest here, you, accidentally bought something in Fortnite over the years, there might be a refund check with your name written all over it, but you better hurry up because the clock is ticking.

Why the FTC Is Sending Out Fortnite Settlement Checks

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is sending out a whole bunch of payments to nearly one million Fortnite players, part of a monster $245 million settlement with Epic Games. The entire drama started because the FTC alleged that Fortnite was using shady business practices to attract its player base, especially its younger players, to purchase items they didn't intend to buy. As a dad of a few Fortnite players, one-click purchases, essentially accidental things your kids have been buying when waking the game out of sleep mode, have been occurring for years.

Deadline to File a Fortnite Refund Claim Is July 9

Here's the thing: You don't have to feel like you're being left out of the Fortnite refund fun, because the FTC has reopened the window to make a claim. Still, it will only run through July 9. If you feel like your credit card or Fortnite account made some accidental purchases between 2017 and 2022, you should file a claim. To see if you qualify, go to ftc.gov/Fortnite.
