Family-Friendly Halloween Events in Wisconsin

I believe living in Northern Illinois comes with several big advantages.

We're within reasonable driving distance of big cities like Chicago, Madison, and Milwaukee, and all the cool shopping, eats, and entertainment that come with them.

We're also located close to small, popular tourist towns to visit on a day trip, and two of my favorites are Galena, Illinois and Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

Galena is gorgeous to visit in the fall, plus they host a massive Halloween parade each year you have to take your kids to, but if Wisconsin is where you want to go this year, check out the Halloween fun waiting for you in Lake Geneva.

Haunted Hayrides at Grand Geneva Resort

I've been to Grand Geneva Resort & Spa in Lake Geneva many times for all different reasons. Beautiful weddings...skiing...visiting the Timber Ridge Lodge Waterpark...Christmas light shows; Grand Geneva hosts many different events throughout the entire year, but the one thing I haven't experienced yet is their Haunted Hayride.

Dan Patch Stables is located on the grounds of Grand Geneva Resort and its Haunted Hayrides are a hit with guests both young and old:

The first few rides from approximately 6-6:45pm are "kid-friendly." All of the monsters are still in the woods, however, they are not jumping on the wagons. All loud noises are removed for these rides as well.

Haunted Hayrides run every Friday and Saturday night through November 1 (also on Sunday, October 12) from 6 to 11 p.m. The ride takes about 20-25 minutes, and tickets are sold at the gate on a first come, first "scared" basis. Get more ticket information here.
