Rockford Man Wanted for First-Degree Murder and Multiple Charges Across Illinois
The Rockford Police Department is requesting public assistance in locating Zayshawntray Pickett, 28, who now faces five outstanding warrants including charges of domestic battery, stalking, criminal trespass, burglary, criminal damage to property, and theft.

As of October 29, 2024, the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office has authorized an additional charge of first-degree murder related to the death of a 10-month-old infant known to Pickett.
Previous Incidents and Criminal Background
Pickett’s criminal record includes several violent charges from 2019.
According to a report in the Rockford Register Star, he was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault with a handgun, and aggravated battery following three incidents within two days.
This background of violent offenses has led the Rockford Police Department and Illinois authorities to prioritize locating Pickett, considering the gravity of the current murder charge.

The Rockford Police Department urges community members not to approach Pickett if seen, due to the serious nature of the charges. Instead, anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to immediately contact the department at 815-966-2900.
