Are the Rockford Peaches Making a Comeback in The New Women’s Professional Baseball League?
A new Women's Professional Baseball League will be launching in the United States in 2026, and now the big question is; will the Rockford Peaches be a part of it?!?
The Return of Women's Professional Baseball
Please allow me to put on my "I am woman hear me roar" hat on for a minute.
I may be TERRIBLE at sports, but I sure love seeing more women's professional sports leagues beginning to pop up in our country. After all, women are just as tough as men, (and in many ways tougher than men), we are just as talented as men, and we are just a dedicated as men, so...why wouldn't there be professional sports leagues made up entirely of women? It's only entirely fair and right!
Women saved the continuation of professional baseball back in the 1940s when most of the men were called to war, and soon awesome women athletes will get the chance to hit the professional diamonds to play ball.
New Professional Women's Baseball League Coming in 2026
According to Yahoo Sports, the new Women's Pro Baseball League is co-founded by Justine Siegal, who was the first woman to coach professional men’s baseball in the United States.
Siegal is quoted as saying;
The Women’s Pro Baseball League is here for all the girls and women who dream of a place to showcase their talents and play the game they love. We have been waiting over 70 years for a professional baseball league we can call our own. Our time is now.
Doesn't that just make you smile, ladies?!? So cool!
At this point, the Women's Pro Baseball League is set to launch with six teams in 2026, but the big question that Illinoisans want to know now is; will the Rockford Peaches be a part of the league?
Will the Rockford Peaches Be a Part of the Women's Pro Baseball League?
The main reason I got so excited to see the announcement that a new professional baseball league for women was coming is because I thought for sure the Rockford Peaches would be making a comeback, but it looks like I was wrong...for now.
Everything I have read basically says that all six teams in the league will be "largely based in the Northeast", but no specific cities or locations have been listed yet.
I guess we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed that the Rockford Peaches will eventually be a part of the Women's Pro Baseball League so we can all cheer for them once again!
