Rockford’s Favorite Cupcake Bakery Welcomes New Owners
Sugarjones' delectable treats have been a staple in the Rockford, Illinois community since 2009, and now our favorite cupcake bakery has some exciting news to share; they have a new owner!
Why I Love Sugarjones Cupcakes
I still remember the first time I tried a cupcake from Sugarjones in Rockford. Someone brought the cupcakes to the radio station, and I was hooked from the first bite. Here's why...
When I was a kid my grandma made red velvet cake and frosting from scratch, and it was like biting into a slice of Heaven. The cake was thick and flavorful, but the real reason I loved it so much was the frosting. It wasn't a cheesecake frosting...it was a magical creamy delight. I requested this cake for my birthday ever year, but my mom always refused because no one could make near as good as my grandma could.
You see, my grandma was a fabulous cook, but she was notorious for leaving one important, yet secret ingredient out when sharing her recipes with others. (my family has never been able to prove she did this, but we all know she did).
As far as I know, no one has been able to find grandma's signature red velvet cake (or frosting) recipe after she passed, so it had been many years since I was able to enjoy my absolute favorite dessert...until I tried a red velvet cupcake from Sugarjones.
Sugarjones might not have my grandma's secret red velvet cake recipe, but it is the closest thing to it I have ever tasted, and I absolutely love it.
A Sweet New Beginning For Sugarjones
Now that you know the nostalgic reason I love Sugarjones so much, you can understand why I freaked out a little to learn that Sugarjones has been sold to a new owner.
New owners sometimes make big changes that can destroy the original business we fell in love with, but thankfully, I don't think that will be the case with Sugarjones.
Here's the sweet turnover of keys...
Sugarjones' new owner, Danna Krischke, is a familiar name and face in the Rockford area. She is a State Farm agent, an exercise instructor, a youth cheerleading coach, and she is also a HUGE supporter of this community.
Congratulations to the Krischke family, I'm looking forward to the sweet future ahead! (PLEASE don't ever change the red velvet cupcakes!).
To Kathy, the founder and former owner of Sugarjones, I would like to say a heartfelt thank you for providing so many sweet memories and taste of family. I will forever be grateful. Good luck in your next adventure!
