Sadly, reaching critical capacity numbers is nothing new for animal shelters all across America, but one Illinois animal shelter just issued a desperate plea for adopters due to its "dangerously full" cages.

Winnebago County Animal Services in Rockford Hits "Maximum Critical Capacity"

As a hardcore animal lover, it always breaks my heart to think about sweet, lonely animals stuck in cages at an animal shelter. Yes, shelters do their best to keep the animals exercised, entertained and loved on, but at the end of the day, they are still sleeping in a cage all alone. These animals wait for days, weeks, and sometimes months, for a family to choose them, and now the dog situation at Winnebago County Animal Services is nearly out of control.

What do I mean by "out of control"? I mean shelter staff is having to put two dogs together in one cage just so they have a place to sleep, and this is a highly dangerous situation for some dogs.

If you're wondering why only 33 of the 80 dogs currently housed at Winnebago County Animal Services are available for adoption, I'm assuming the other 47 are on stray hold or waiting to be cleared for adoption.

I hope you get my point here; more animals arrive at the shelter every day, and if they have no room to house them, they can't help them. We can't let that happen.  PLEASE consider adopting one of the beautiful dogs pictured above. You can read more about each dog, and fill out an adoption application now at winnebagoanimals.org.
