A man is dead after a shooting on Rockford's south side early Sunday morning (12/7).

Emergency Response to Early-Morning Shooting

According to a press release from the Rockford Police Department, officials from the Winnebago County Coroner's Office were called to a local emergency department just after 2 am on Sunday (12/7), where a man arrived with life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Investigators say the shooting happened at approximately 1:13 am in the 300 block of Buckbee Street, where Rockford Police and Fire crews arrived within minutes, locating a male victim suffering from severe injuries.

First responders immediately began life-saving measures on the victim before transporting him via ambulance to a nearby hospital. Despite extensive efforts, the man was pronounced dead at 1:59 am.

Victim Identified, Investigation Into Shooting Ongoing

According to an autopsy from the Winnebago County Coroner's Office, 35-year-old Tarrie Noel of Rockford died from gunshot wounds.

The Coroner, along with the Rockford Police Department, is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting incident.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Rockford Police or remain anonymous and report any information to Rockford Area Crime Stoppers.
