Even as an adult, there are still some things that will happen that send me right back to when I was 8 years old. One of those moments is seeing a street sweeper coming through the neighborhood.

When I was a kid, it was a memorable experience anytime I would see this big monster-looking contraption powering down the road with its large brushes and massive vacuums, leaving a clean street.
I have to admit it's on my bucket list to drive a street sweeper someday, so I may need to reach out to the City of Rockford, which will be sweeping residential streets next week.
Crews Target Northwest Quadrants of the City
The City of Rockford's Street Division will begin sweeping several residential neighborhoods during the week of June 30, 2025.
According to the press release, crews will focus on areas between the city limits and the Rock River, covering from Auburn Street to Halsted Road.
Blocked Streets Will Not Be Reswept
Residents are reminded that street sweepers will not return to areas that were blocked by garbage cans or parked vehicles.

Per an ordinance in the City of Rockford, garbage cans must be placed behind the curb, not in the street.
Weekly Updates and Safety Reminders
The City of Rockford Street Division will issue street maps and updates each Thursday, showing the completed areas and those pending.
All schedules and street sweeping operations are dependent on the weather. The city urges drivers to reduce their speed and exercise caution while traveling in areas where Public Works crews are operating.
