This is for all the areas considered “small towns,” not big cities like Milwaukee—which would still be a change, but not nearly as drastic as if someone from California moved to a different part of Wisconsin.

There are some things someone would need to get used to after moving to a smaller area. Some of the things are good, like less traffic. which is somthing we all love to see... unless there is road work. Then it gets bad. Another great thing is that the noise pollution is lower—unless you live by train tracks, in which case you might disagree.

2. Early Start... Early End

Most restaurants and other places close by 8 PM, compared to big cities where some places are just opening at 8.

3. Rain

4. Politeness

An honorable mention goes to the accents. Certain parts of Wisconsin may catch Californians off guard with their strong northern or Midwestern accents. While not everyone in the state speaks this way, the distinct pronunciation and regional slang can be a noticeable and sometimes surprising cultural shift for newcomers.
