November 5, 2019 marks the two-year anniversary of Rockford Police Officer Jaimie Cox's death in the line of duty. I will never forget that day, or the way Rockford came together in mourning during the days that followed.

For the first time in a long time Rockfordians gave the negativity a break and simply stepped up to support a family and police force who just suffered a devastating loss. We lined the streets for each procession. We lit our homes in blue. We dressed our trees and lamp posts with blue ribbons. We were one, and we need to do it again...starting tomorrow.

I have never removed the blue bulbs from my exterior house lights since that tragic day in 2017. Tomorrow I will remove the pumpkin light covers that lay on top of them, and will once again let them shine blue for a life lost way too soon and a group of brave men and women who face the same challenges every single day to keep us safe.

I truly hope you will do the same at your home and business.
