Rockford Welcomes “Patches,” the Giant Pumpkin at Klehm Arboretum
Rockford has a brand-new fall celebrity coming to town—she's big, orange, and ready to meet everyone this October.
If you thought I was describing a person, you thought wrong. If you guessed a pumpkin, you are correct! She's a big girl, and the star attraction this year at Klehm.
Meet Patches! This isn't just any pumpkin, no. Patches is just under 2,000lbs, and you can visit her very soon at Rockford's Klehm Arboretum. On October 2nd, she'll be on display at the Botanical Garden's Eerie Autumn Lights event!

This is the second year for their month-long Halloween-themed illuminated event, and it's a glowing wonderland you have to experience before it's over. With over 14,000 feet of lights and LEDs on the trees, Klehm will transform into a world straight out of a storybook. To top it off, Patches will, obviously, be the star attraction!

There's over a half-mile trail filled with spooky landscapes, photo-op displays, and tons of activities for kids and families. On top of that:
- 2.500 SQFT Straw Bale Maze
- A Ghostly Market
- Vintage Goose Cafe
- Curious & Creepy Educational Programs (Thursdays only)
Plus, there's a new "spookier" route you can take if you're brave enough. It's a shorter path, but definitely scarier. It's all still family-friendly, though!
Whether you're coming out to visit Patches, the iconic pumpkin at Klehm, or just want to make some fun fall memories with your friends and family, there's something for everyone to enjoy while you're exploring Klehm Arboretum this year.
