If you're bored of darts and pool at your local watering hole you need to head over to Prairie Street Brewing Company for something you probably haven't played in awhile.

It's called bubble hockey and for my money it's the best "bar game" in town.

I've always been a big fan of bar games when out with friends. I've thrown darts till my arm hurt the next day. I know how to roll the cue on the pool table to find the least bent one out of group. I've had my own account on the Golden Tee machine. I'm shockingly good at the Buck Hunter game. One time in the summer or 2007 the bar my friends and I frequented (went to 5 days a week, at least) installed a huge horse racing game where you bred and raced your own horses. I think we collectively put $1,000 a piece in that thing over the summer.

My favorite has always been bubble hockey. It's simple. A game costs a buck and usually lasts around 5 minutes. A bad player always has a puncher's chance against a good player. It's just a ton of fun.

So you can imagine my joy when I turned the corner in the downstairs bar at Prairie Street and there it was in all it's glory. I hadn't played in years but it was just as fun.

The Prairie Street game room can also scratch the nostalgia itch if you were a big fan of pinball. They're one of the few places in town that have a couple of machines.

I will say that I was disappointed in their NBA Jam game. I was VERY excited to be "On FIRE!!" but it turned out to be the weird NBA Jam Extreme Version. It looks odd and I was pretty depressed. Only thing that would make it better would be an NFL Blitz game. That or the Ivan "Ironman" Stewart's Super Off-Road game, the one with the 3 steering wheels. Either one of those move in and I'll request them set up a cot for me because I'm probably not leaving.
