Let me start by saying my 16 year old just got her permit and I am a little nervous to say the least. In the weeks before her test, I helped her study for the book part as well as the driving portion. It doesn't seem like most of the questions have changed in the over 25 years since I first got my permit. This year has been a rough one for The Illinois Sate Police. Three officers have already lost their lives and some of this has happened because people didn't obey Scotts' law.

Scott's law states that if you see an emergency vehicle pulled over on the side of the road, you have to move over in the lane further away from them. This really keeps people safe. I do it for any car I see on the side of the road, you never know what could happen if you don't. According to mdjonline.com, The Illinois Senate unanimously agreed to add 2 different reminders about Scott's law to the state's driving pool. Senator Rose wants to send the reminders with your license plate renewal, also wanting the Secretary of State to include a new question about Scott's law in the state driver's test.

Just this year, 16 Illinois State Troopers have been hit while on the side of the road and it really needs to stop. They already have enough to deal, much less worrying about being struck by a distracted passerby. Personally I don't understand why this wasn't already on the driver's test. Everyone needs to know about this law.
