Few moments in life are as revealing as the one where you find your dinner table at a wedding reception. So many things are suddenly brought into focus: whether your self-image is accurate or not, where you stand in the hierarchy of your friendships, and, most importantly, whether the bride and groom are really and truly worth the planet ticket and hotel room costs you just forked over. Everyone has been to a wedding where they are the odd person out and found themselves speaking to the childhood babysitter or the Semester at Sea acquaintance while starring longingly at the front of the dining room. It happens to everyone. It will happen to you.
Anna Kendrick ‘Squirrel Girl’ ?

Anna Kendrick ‘Squirrel Girl’ ?
Nothing like a fresh, piping hot superhero rumor on a long weekend, am I right? Earlier this week, Net-A-Porter (via /Film) took the opportunity to ask Anna Kendrick which superhero she could see herself playing. She admitted that her brother had sent her a Squirrel Girl comic and that Kendrick could see herself playing the character. So if we’re being honest here, a more accurate headline would probably, ‘Anna Kendrick’s Brother Interested in Anna Kendrick Being Interested in a Squirrel Girl Movie’, but my goodness, that’s practically illegible, isn’t it?

If DreamWorks did anything right for their upcoming ‘Trolls’ movie, it was making those ugly plastic dolls look a lot cuter in the movie. As someone of the Furby generation, I never quite understood why those creepy naked Danish dolls (where were their clothes?) became such a fad in the 1960s into the ‘90s. The colorful pointy haired creatures seemed too demented to be kids toys. But that’s not the case for the new Trolls movie, which looks to be very kid-friendly.

Early details on The Accountant made the new film from Warrior director Gavin O’Connor sound like it was based on a graphic novel, even though it’s not: Ben Affleck stars as a white collar accountant who leads a double-life as a lethal assassin. So it wasn’t really surprising when WB announced plans to release a tie-in comic book for The Accountant. What is a bit surprising is the tone of the first trailer, which presents an intriguing and off-kilter drama about a man struggling with a vague mental disorder.

The trailer for Trolls is DreamWorks’ greatest troll to date, somehow managing to encapsulate the most irritating aspects of the animation studio’s productions in a minute flat. The names of Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake pass by to hint at the promise of a good time with plenty of throaty musical numbers, but this is only misdirection for the volley of aggression to come.

There are few performers as easy to watch as Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick. Both are blessed with that most uncommon superpower – they walk on screen and you instantly like them, no strings attached. So any movie that casts them side-by-side deserves your attention. If that movie is a musical, that movie becomes an instant must-see. But now Hollywood have decided to test your devotion by making them the leads in the upcoming Trolls, an animated musical based on those creepy Troll dolls.
