Two cities in Illinois have an awful bed bug problem. Actually, Chicago has once again been named the city with the worst bed bug problem in the U.S. for the 4th year.

How much confidence do you have that the place you've decided to stay at in Illinois does not have bed bugs? There is an easy way to check and you deserve to know there are many in the Land of Lincoln which have very recent reports.

I wouldn't look at this recent reports of bed bugs in Illinois if I were you, but you obviously did anyway, so that probably means you're about to travel and you might have concerns about places in the Land of Lincoln you might stop at. Spoiler Alert: you are right to be afraid...so very very afraid.

With Bed Bug Awareness Week starting on June 2, Pest Gnome ranked the worst cities for bed bug infestations in 2024. They compared the 500 biggest U.S. cities based on three main categories: the number of accommodations, multi-unit residential buildings, and population density.

I'd rather not know what I know after some research into the current state of bed bugs in Illinois. I've learned that there are more than 600 current reports of bed bugs in Illinois motels right now.

I tend to be naive. When I stop at a motel, I assume everything is fine. I've learned that I am often very very wrong as there are a whopping 404 Wisconsin bed bug reports right now.

The advice for travelers is to inspect bed sheets!

And for the first time at that.

Throw away your mattress immediately.
