Just because there aren't a lot of different grocery store companies in the Rockford area, doesn't mean the residents don't have their favorite when it comes to shopping.
Shortages, supply chain issues, unintentional scarcity---call it what you will,, but there's plenty of it going on from coast-to-coast, and, as you've no doubt noticed, right here in Illinois.
It really started to get interesting in January, didn't it? That's when prices at grocery stores in Illinois and throughout the U.S. reached a record-breaking high with the overall price of food costing 6.5% more than it did in 2021, marking the highest rate of inflation since the 1980s.
I know. You've seen enough of these posts about Illinois' problems, whether it's high taxes, high numbers of people leaving, or whatever--that you're probably thinking "of course Illinois is the most expensive, or why would he write about this?"
Like many, I'm thrilled the mask mandate is gone for now. Returning to 'normal' life is the catchphrase. Could we keep one part of our pandemic lifestyle?
