A new way of renewing your driver's license has come to Illinois.

You'd think that this would be an easily answered question. If my plate, or plates were stolen, I'd probably think of myself as being the victim in that scenario. However, an Aurora man found out that things sometimes are just not that clear-cut.

The Illinois Secretary of State's office has rejected over 50,000 vanity plate requests in the past five years and some are too good to ignore.

So, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) pushed things back one year to October 21, 2021 to give people time to get things together while dealing with the pandemic.

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White knows that there's nothing that Illinois residents enjoy more than spending some time waiting in line at Illinois driver's license facilities, but he'd like you to reconsider your next trip there.

The move to digital driver's licenses and digital license plates hasn't happened yet here in Illinois, but a bunch of other states have already jumped on the idea and run with it.
