Indulge In Heart-Shaped Pizza And Cake This Valentine’s Day In Illinois

Whether you're celebrating Valentine's Day with your bestie, your boyfriend or yourself, you need heart shaped food on the menu. Here's where you can grab your favorites in Illinois. 

Valentine's Day is this week, which is why you're probably being overserved with hearts on social media, so you might be surprised that I'm about to serve three more hearts your way... but these three are delicious, so it's worth it.

When I was a kid, Valentine's Day was mostly about paper cards and candy. We had parties at school where we passed out our valentines and hoped that our classmates wouldn't give us any cards that were too gushy.

These days, it's more about the heart shaped everything we can get our hands on!

There are a lot of options when it comes to heart shaped food, but pizza and cake are my favorites for sure, so here are my three heart shaped foodie recs for Valentine's Day 2024 in Illinois.

Heart Shapes Pizza and Cake in Illinois

If you love thin crust pizza... then you'll love what Papa John's is slicing up this year. The thin crust 1-topping Heart-Shaped Pizzas are only available in thin crust and one size, but you can choose from alfredo, buffalo, BBQ, ranch or original pizza sauce. They start at $11.99.

If you're looking for deep-dish pizza, you can check out Lou Malnati's, which opens at 4 p.m. here in Rockford. You can choose from cheese, sausage or pepperoni, and you can cheese from frozen pizzas to bake yourself or freshly cooked pies you can pick-up. The Lou Malnati heart shaped pizzas are $18.24 each, with $1 for each pizza going to Feeding America.

And after you finish your pizza, you need cake. Specifically Portillo's heart shaped chocolate frosted chocolate cake. Portillo's is also donating a portion of their heart shaped revenue to charity, they chose to donate to No Kid Hungry for every heart shaped cake purchased. You can pre-order your cake on their website to pick up before or on Valentine's Day. The cakes will cost you $18.99
