Being a bridesmaid means different things to different brides.

Make sure you know what's expected before you accidentally do it wrong.

I know, that might sound strange, but it's true. Every one is different, including every bride. For example, I was my sister's Maid of Honor and I didn't even throw her a bachelorette party.

Before you start calling me worst MOH ever, let me fill you in on the fact that I was 19 and lived 5 hours away from her at the time. Also I had no idea what I was doing, I think she was ok with the whole thing, though maybe I should call her on my way home and make sure.

In the seven other weddings I've been a part of, I've had larger expectations. Not crazy ones or anything, but definitely more than from my sister, "show up in the dress you bought and don't be crabby."

With that said, it's good to know what the bride expects ahead of time, if you don't ask, it'll eventually come up, believe me. So be up front and keep everyone happy.
