Sure it's snowing but it's baseball season all over Illinois including here in Rockford where planning is underway for the second annual Rockford Rivets Legends Celebrity Softball Game.

It's hard to beat a great baseball game. Sunshine, a slight breeze, nachos, cold drinks and the crack of the bat. Sounds pretty perfect right?

This summer, the Rockford Rivets Legends Celebrity Softball Game is taking it up a notch with a slew of talented ballplayers.

Don't get me wrong. Last year's celeb game was the BEST day of my entire summer. Meeting and getting to play ball alongside Mike Singletary was something I will always remember.

There were a ton of former Green Bay Packers and former Chicago Bears on the celeb roster last year, but this year Rockford Rivets President Steve Malliet said they're trying to create more of a baseball buzz with Cubs and Sox legends.

Steve stopped by Good Day Stateline this week to spill the Legends game details and tell me he'll try to get me on Derrek Lee's team! I'm hoping!

2024 Rockford Rivets Legends Celebrity Game

The game is Saturday, August 24 and tickets are on sale now.

In addition to former Cub Derrek Lee, we'll see Bobby Thigpen, Bob Dernier, Mickey Morandini, and Mitch Williams take the field in August.

The game benefits the Boys and Girls Club of Rockford, and your favorite 97ZOK DJs will be there along with our friends from Q98.5, 96.7 The Eagle, WROK 1440 and our media partners at WTVO and FOX39.
