I've had an iPhone for years. I didn't know what that little thought bubble meant, until today.

Ask anyone and they'll tell you their own version of what it means.

For the most part, it usually means that someone is typing something, or reading whatever you sent them.

Why does the typing indicator bubble stay then go away? I immediately think I did something wrong. Was it something I said? Am I boring? What did I do to deserve this?

Turns out its not always you. It could be that the person responding is taking a long time to reply back. Thankfully Slate is here to help.

They put together a video showing what the "typing indicator bubble" means. Turns out the bubble lasts 60 seconds, then goes away.

So that means get on it, "texter-backers!" Don't make me think you don't like me.
