Two of the ‘Best Donut Shops in America’ Are In Illinois

I feel like we could all use a donut in our life right now.

Yesterday felt like an extension of the three day 4th of July weekend. Today now feels like Monday. I'm confused, my body is tired and brain needs another break.

Thankfully, we live in a state that offers delicious donuts to get us through the rest of the week.

Only downfall, none of the donut shops featured in this new list from Thrillist are in the Rockford area. That said, a trip to these places might be in the offing sooner rather than later.

Here are the two donut shops in Illinois that made the list.

• Do-Rite Donuts, 50 W Randolph St, Chicago
• Doughnut Vault, 401 N Franklin St, Chicago

According to Thrillist, "Do-Rite does the fancy-donut basics right (spelling, less so), with the chocolate old fashioned and pistachio-Meyer lemon being standouts among the steady offerings."

Regarding Doughnut Vault, Thrillist says, "Stop by on the early side for an array of some of the best old-fashioned-style donuts in the city, like toasted almond, coconut cream, and lemon poppy seed."

Both sound incredible, and more than likely worth the trip to Chicago. That said, if it were up to you, what do you think is the best donut shop in Rockford and the surrounding area?
