Uber Comes To Rockford and Sweet Lenny Tries It Out [VIDEO]

The wildly popular ride sharing service, Uber, has finally made it to Rockford. So I took Uber for a whirl, just to see how it works.

Uber is really popular in big cities. My biggest question is, how will it fare in Rockford?

I guess the answer would be, it depends.

It depends on what you use Uber for. In my case, I used it yesterday for a quick ride over to Mary's Market, just to see how it works.

After a couple of false starts, I finally figured the app out and the Uber driver was on her way.

It was about a 10-12 minute wait for Lorri (my driver) to pick me up.

When I got in the car, I had a few questions. She was polite and courteous and got me to my destination on time.

That being said, I think Uber drivers in Rockford will make their money two ways.

The first would be Friday and Saturday nights. For a hustling Uber drive, the potential is there to really rake it in.

The second way would be taking people to and from the airport.

The app is the biggest key to Uber. The ability to "hail" a car without having to call, sit on hold, make an appointment, etc. provides the most allure to the service.
