It's not what you think it might be and it's certainly not the act of sending someone something in a cardboard box.

It's something entirely different. I always tend to think of shippers as people who are really pulling for some kind of romantic connection between two people, fictional or otherwise.

It mostly happens in movies and TV. There was a story yesterday that featured Star Wars Force Awakens star John Boyega apologizing to all of the "Rey and Fin 'shippers" that were hoping for a hook up in later movies.

Obviously the apology is because the Finn and Rey Star Wars romance isn't going to happen.

Now do you see what I'm talking about? Alright, this is how Urban Dictionary explains a "shipper."

Get it? A relationship? A ship? People who refer to the word "shipping" like this are the same who call pizza, "za."

The funny thing about this word is that we all secretly "ship" for that one character in a TV show or movie.

It's strange but I have a feeling that we have been doing that forever. I mean, Wizard of Oz came out in 1939 and people are pining for Scarecrow and Dorothy to hook up.
