A Case of the Chicken Pox Has Been Confirmed at a Rockford Elementary School
Is it just me, or does anyone else get itchy at just the thought of chicken pox?
Even with vaccinations, it seems that the contagious viral infection is still a rite of passage of sorts for tots and school age kids, keeping both them and parents home from work and school; covered in calamine.
The latest case has recently hit Lathrop Elementary School in Rockford.
According to WREX, RPS 205 Heath Services sent a letter to parents, encouraging them to be on the lookout for the following symptoms:
- a rash that turns itchy
- fluid-filled blisters that eventually turn into scabs
- fever
- tiredness
- headache
- loss of appetite
If you think your child might be coming down with a case of the chicken pox, please make sure to keep them home from school and have them see your doctor right away; the virus is extremely contagious and is easily spread by coughing and sneezing.
