It's Friday night, your girlfriend calls and she wants to go out. You'd love to, but you're pretty sure you have nothing cute to wear and you're short on funds til payday. What do you do?

You probably do what I do- you make a Gordmans run; it's the perfect place to find cute (and yes, age appropriate) clothes at prices that won't break the bank.

Unfortunately, your days of shopping at one of Rockford's most popular department stores could be coming to an end very soon.

According to WDAZ and several other news sources out of Omaha, where their corporate office is located, the retailer is preparing to file bankruptcy and it could happen as early as this month.

The company refuses to comment at the moment, so it's hard to speculate what this could mean for employees at two local locations; one in Machesney Park and one in Rockford. All we know right now is that a "current sluggish retail environment" is to blame.

Best case scenario, if they do file, it could sell off it's brand, or reorganize by closing some stores and selling it's assets. Worst case, merchandise would be liquidated and stores would close.

As soon as we get more information, especially if the Rockford locations will be affected, we'll be the first to let you know.
