A Strange Amount of Illinois Parents are Using Game of Thrones Baby Names
Once upon a time you were born, and your parents picked out the best name to give you...what inspired it?
When I ask my parents why they named me after my brother, Michael, they want to push me off a cliff, but I ask anyway... I'm only two years younger than him and you know Michael and Michelle are the same name right?
They say they didn't actually name me after him (sure, sure parents, sure), but I was named after an actress on my mom's favorite show, 'Knots Landing.' Her name is Michele Lee. My dad added the additional 'l' because he said I wouldn't be able to find a mini license plate with my name on it if I didn't have all the 'right' letters.
I appreciate that, dad.
So it's not new at all that parents would name their kids after TV show actors or characters but it's quite entertaining to read studies like this one from Crossword Solver that Illinois is one of the states with the most Game of Thrones inspired baby names in the last few years... 944 Illinois babies are rocking the GoT names!
The only states surpassing that are California (duh), Texas (also duh, it's a big state), Florida and New York.
The most common Game of Thrones name is Arya, with Tyrion leading the way for baby boy GoT-ers.
Do you know any babies with TV inspired names?
