Even though temperatures are at an all-time high in Illinois right now, that doesn't stop the annoying bugs from finding their way into our homes.  They're looking to cool off, too!

Just the other day, I came home and a damn squirrel somehow found its way into my apartment.  It was just chillin' in my entryway, nervous as heck, waiting to greet me after work.  He vanished somewhere in my apartment, and I never saw him again, luckily.

What's still around my house?  Ants.  Spiders.  Boxelder bugs.  Mosquitoes.

Bugs Aren’t Gone Yet: What’s Still Creeping in Illinois This Fall

Don't think bugs just die when fall rolls around.  I've seen more bugs in my house during fall than summer, honestly.  Here are a few you should watch out for!

Yellowjackets. They're extra bold in late summer and early fall. They’re coming for your sugary drinks, picnic food, and anything sweet.  If you have empty cups from Starbucks or Dunkin' sitting around, get rid of them!

Mosquitoes.  The blood-sucking vampires we all despise. They stick around longer than you’d expect. Warm days and a little standing water are all they need to throw one last BBQ.

Stink bugs and boxelder bugs.  These bad boys start creeping around this time of year too. They make themselves at home on windowsills, behind picture frames, and anywhere to stay warm around your house.  They’re not dangerous, just annoying.

Ticks. If you’re hitting the trails like I do a lot in the fall, be careful.  Check your pets' fur for any ticks that took a little ride on their back!

So don’t pack up the bug spray just yet. Seal your doors, empty standing water, and maybe skip the open pop can for a while.

Fall in Illinois is gorgeous, but the bugs don't get the memo to leave.
