The Chicago Bears have decided on a uniform and helmet color for this weekend's primetime game against the Houston Texans.

It'll be rookie Quarterback Caleb Wiliams's first primetime game, and the Bears will try to do as much as possible to make this one a winner.

Instead, the Bears will wear orange jerseys and orange helmets.

You'd think what difference that makes, but my initial take without looking was that this color combination never ends with a W for the "beloved."

A closer look proves my skepticism is warranted, as they don't have a great record in the orange jersey helmet combo.

The Bears started wearing these combos in 2022 and should have returned them to storage soon after.

The first time they busted out the orange and oranger, the Bears lost to the Washington Commanders in mid-October 2022, in what I remember as one of the ugliest games of the last handful of years.

A few weeks later, the Bears wore the all-orange abomination and were crushed by the Cowboys 49-29 in Arlington, Texas.

As if the two beatings weren't enough to put the combo in mothballs forever, the Bears brought them back in 2023, and guess what? They lost again, this time to the Tom Brady-less Buccaneers.

The only win wearing these helmets and jerseys was against a team even more hapless than the Bears of the last few years, the Carolina Panthers.

It was also ugly, but a win's a win, eh? So, this jersey helmet combo has a 1-3 record all time. Is there any chance we can reverse the curse this weekend?
