When you break a skate on the ice there isn't much you can do.

Your sense of balance is gone and there's no way you're going to make it off the ice without a bit of help.

That's what rookie winger Nick Schmaltz experienced last night when he busted a skate during the Hawks 1-0 loss to the Anaheim Ducks.

Schmaltz was checked near center ice and lost a blade and looked like a baby deer trying to walk for the first time while getting off the ice.

Thankfully, teammate Artemi Panarin stepped in to give him a little nudge with the blade of his stick to help him make it to the bench.

Hey, that's what being a teammate is all about. Helping others when they're down, and sometimes giving them a little push with your hockey stick to help them get off the ice.
