Chicago Macy’s Walnut Room Announces 2024 Holiday Reservation Details
Mark your calendars, if you want to get a good seat by Macy's Great Tree in Chicago, you need to make reservations this month.
The 45 foot tall Great Tree isn't up inside the Walnut Room at Macy's in downtown Chicago just yet, but it's time to call your mom and figure out what day you want to visit this holiday season.
Seriously. I texted mine last night!

For most of my adult life, my mom and I have visited the Great Tree at Macy's during the holiday season. When I was a kid I think we went once or twice, but for the last 15 years or so we've made it an annual tradition.
Last year we had to go after Christmas because, well, we couldn't get a reservation beforehand!
Perhaps it's because I didn't realize December reservations for The Walnut Room have been booking in September.
This year the reservations for the holiday season will be available on Friday September 27, according to the Macy's website.

Unfortunately the site doesn't say what time on the 27th... so hopefully I'll be up early enough to grab two seats before Christmas, like I managed to do in 2017.
The Walnut Room has a full FAQ page set up for the holiday season including details on how reservations will differ depending on your group size.
According to the details, the Great Tree will be lit from Saturday November 2 through Sunday January 12.
Other important details to keep in mind: your reservation will be for 90 minutes, you can't reserve a specific table, the chicken pot pie will be back and so will the Santa Breakfast events.
Santa Breakfasts will be on December 8, 15 and 22 from 8am until 11am, and those reservations will also be available on September 27th.
I'm setting my alarm!
