Countdown To The Grand Opening Of Rockford Public Library On June 22
The wait is almost over! This month you can actually step foot inside the new downtown Rockford Public Library. The grand opening is Saturday, June 22.
We have literally been waiting years, almost a decade to step foot inside the new Rockford Public Library and the time has come to mark your calendar!

Ok, to be completely honest, I've stepped foot in this new library many times with my Good Day Stateline team.
Since the fall of 2022, we've been out there once a month to check on the progress of the building and give viewers the inside scoop. I can confidently say you're going to love the library, whether you're a little kid (though I doubt you're reading this if you are...) or a history lover, there's something for everyone in there.
According to the Rockford Public Library's press release, Opening Day will start with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9am and the event will end at 4:30pm with a community poem delivered by City of Rockford Poet Laureate, Jenna Goldsmith.
Now, there is a tricky part of the library opening and that's closing the current library, the Hart Interim Library.

It will close permanently this Saturday at 4pm, so we will technically be without a downtown branch for two weeks while we wait for Opening Day.
But, we do have a few other branches you can return borrowed materials to in the meantime.
I'm so excited, aren't you?
