Loose Cow Causes Chaos on University of Illinois Campus [VIDEO]

Finals week is stressful enough, but students at the University of Illinois got a surprise nobody saw coming: a cow on the loose.

The drama unfolded on Wednesday afternoon when a large black cow escaped during the final leg of its trips to the university's veterinary school.  Staff were unloading the animal from a trailer near the College of Veterinary Medicine's Large Animal Clini when it suddenly made a break for it.

From there, the cow casually trotted across campus like it had somewhere to be.  Students, already deep in finals week chaos, were left stunned watching the loose cow wander by.  Video captured by The Daily Illini shows the cow making its way down a campus road toward the Main Quad, quickly becoming the most talked-about sight of the day.

At one point, the cow even stopped to relax near a bush, taking a shady break while campus police were working to safely capture the cow.  The University of Illinois Police Department temporarily shut down the quad as officers and staff carefully wrangled the animal.

Despite the wild scene, the situation ended relatively calmly.  According to the university's director of executive communications, the cow only suffered minor injuries that were treated on-site.

While no one expected livestock to crash the campus during finals week, the incident gave stressed-out students a moment they won't forget anytime soon.  Between exams and study sessions, seeing a runaway cow roaming the qua is definitely one way to break up the routine... and probably one of the most "Illinois" stories of the week.
