‘Delicious’ Illinois Eatery Crowned One of America’s Favorite Burger Joints

Need a good burger? Better yet, need a burger at a joint that won’t be crammed with a bunch of folks hopping on the “good burger bandwagon?”

If you don’t know what I mean, think about the most popular restaurants in Illinois.

They're loaded with people who are there because It's the trendy place to go at the moment.

Then there are the places that day after day and month after month continue to serve up the goods.

These are the restaurants that make it because the food is just so darn good they stand the test of time.

So I was very excited to see Housely list a burger joint in Illinois I had not heard of before today.

Their article, America’s Favorite Burger Joints lists restaurants from coast to coast while including one from Illinois.

Have you had a burger from Top Notch Beefburgers? You might want to consider if you’re answer was “no.”

Housely:

This family-owned establishment has been grinding top rounds on location and frying potatoes in beef fat. Opt for their patty melt, available in quarter-pound, half-pound, or three-quarter-pound sizes. The patties are then sandwiched between crispy, buttery rye bread with grilled onions and American cheese.

Top Notch has a sign outside their restaurant that reads:

“Celebrating 75 years of Chicago’s greatest burger.”

It might be one of those things where if you know you know.

Lee P. on Yelp disagrees saying “The 1/2 pound Cheeseburger is so UNremarkable I can’t imagine ever coming here again.”

However, Edwin R. says eating at Top Notch was a “wonderful dining experience” and Robert W. agrees commenting “The burgers, though basic, are mouth-watering and delicious.”

Top Notch is located at 2116 West 95th Street in Chicago.
